The Shadan Educational Society in recognition of their achievement and also to encourage them in their future academic pursuits has awarded Shadan Vizarath Rasool Khan Gold Medals to the 14 Gold Medallists.
Apart from regular curricular pursuits students of the college have actively participated in various academic, literary and cultural events organized by various institutions and have won many prizes.
- Students of the Genetics Department bagged First prize in Poster Presentation and Oral Presentation on “Cancer” at the seminar on “Science for the Millennium” organized by Madina Degree College, 2001.
- Student from Genetics Department won the First prize in Poster Presentation on as well as for Oral Presentation on “Apoptosis: The Programmed Cell Death” in the Inter college competion held at Bharath Degree College, 2003.
- Students of the Genetics Department secured First prize for Poster presentation on “Stem Cells” at the UGC sponsored seminar organized by St. Ann’s Collge, 2003.
- Asma Parveen of III year bagged III prize for Power Point Presentation on “Prenatal Diagnosis & its Molecular Approach” in the UGC sponsored inter college competition organized by St. Ann’s College, Mehdipatnam 2003.
- Students of Nutrition Department won the second prize in the inter college Quiz Competition conducted by St. Ann’s College, in December 2003.
- Fareesa Sameer won Fasahath Jung Jaleel Rolling Shield for Elocution in the literary competition held by Department of Urdu, Osmania University 2002.
- Students of Urdu participated in the literary competition jointly conducted by the national Council for Promotion of Urdu, Idare - Adbiyat - Urdu and Arjuman - e - Taraquee - e - Urdu, and won First prize in Elocution and Second prize in Nazm Kharuni in 2004.
- Students of Hindi participated in the literary competition held by Department of Hindi, Arts College, O.U and Sandhya of MZC III won the First prize in Elocution.
- Wajiha Junaidi of B.Com III yr won the First prize in inter college Story Writing competition held by Department of postal Services in December, 2002.
- A Ashwini of MPCs Final year participated & presented a paper in UGC sponsored state level seminar on “Atmo sphere and Oceanics Physics” conducted by Sri Y N Murthy College Narsapur, 2004.
- Students of Microbiology / Biochemistry Dept participated in the Symposium organized by Aurora Degree College and won the First prize for Poster Presentation on Anti Sense MRNA Therapy in the treatment of AIDS.
- Students from Dept of Statistics participated in the Stastical Quiz conducted by Bharath Degree College and secured the First Prize, 2003.
- Students of Arabic participated in the congregation conducted by Taamir - e - Millat and Muslim Girls Association Forum and were awarded prizes.
- Students of Botany Dept participated in the National seminar on “Medicinal Botany” conducted by Vanita Mahavidyalaya.
- Students of Psychology Dept participated in “Psychology Field Event “organized by Dept of Psychology, Osmania University at Keys High School, 2004.
- Mrs. Ratna Bhattacharya, lecturer in the dept of Psychology visited the Chinese Institute of Psychology in Beijing and delivered a lecture on “Stress for Working Women”, 2004.
- Sociology students participated in the UGC sponsored seminar on Women Empowerment conducted by Kasturba College and did a poster presentation, 2004.
- Students of Commerce Dept participated in the event “Commerce Sense” organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan College, 2004.
Besides these, students participated in many seminars, symposia and literary and Cultural competitions.
The college holds an Exhibition called NURTURE every year. Students from all the faculties present charts, models, posters and other exhibits on various topics. The objective of NURTURE is to introduce important and basic concepts of different spheres of knowledge and also the advances made and their relevance to society, to students and faculty. The exhibition is open to other colleges as well.
Students of Shadan Degree College for Women have been performing well in the Entrance Tests for P.G. courses conducted by various Universities and many have secured admissions in various P.G. courses at Osmania, University of Hyderabad and also Universities outside Hyderabad and A.P.
Without resting on its laurels or being complacent SDCW continues to strive for excellence, to make learning a meaningful and enobling experience and empower women with self-reliance.
